Training & Enrolment

Who are DATA+ training programmes designed for?

Our programmes serve three overlapping groups. First, individual professionals, from NGO programme officers and public servants to bank analysts and researchers, who need to build a specific technical skill and want a certificate they can point to on their CV and LinkedIn profile.
Second, corporate and institutional teams whose leadership has identified a data or digital skills gap within the organisation and wants it addressed systematically; we design and deliver these as bespoke programmes. Third, university students who access our training free of charge through our apprenticeship mentorship programme, alongside real project experience within our consultancy operations. Most of our learners are working professionals fitting training around a full-time job, our programme design reflects that reality.

Yes — a significant proportion of our learners are based outside Kigali or outside Rwanda
entirely. We offer three delivery formats: hybrid instructor-led (combining in-person Kigali
sessions with live online access, so remote participants learn alongside classroom participants in real time); fully self-paced through our Learning Management System at dataplusacademy.com, which is built specifically for low-bandwidth environments across Africa; and in organisation delivery for corporate clients, which can be in-person at your offices or fully remote. Check the Event Calendar on our website for upcoming cohort start dates.

Every DATA+ programme concludes with a capstone project, a piece of independent work that applies the skills taught in the programme to a real or realistic dataset. The capstone is not a test. It is the evidence that you can actually do the work. A Python capstone might be a
complete analytical pipeline on an East African dataset; an M&E capstone might be a finished framework and data collection instrument for a real project. The 70% completion rate we cite is the share of enrolled learners who complete a capstone, not just attend sessions. Completing your capstone is what earns your certificate.

DATA+ certificates are issued digitally, shareable on LinkedIn, and recognised by the organisations we have worked with, including national government agencies, international NGOs, bilateral donors, and development finance institutions. We do not make claims about formal academic accreditation that we cannot back up. What we can say is that our certificates
represent demonstrated competence, verified through a capstone project, on the specific tools and methodologies that employers in Rwanda and the international development sector use and hire for. Many of our graduates have used their DATA+ certification to secure promotions, new roles, or access to competitive grants.

We set our fees deliberately below the market rate for equivalent international training, affordability is not a secondary consideration for us, it is central to our mission. Fees vary by programme length and format. University students access training free of charge through our mentorship programme. For working professionals, we offer payment in instalments for most programmes. For organisations enrolling multiple staff members, we offer group pricing. Contact
us for the current fee schedule and to discuss what is feasible for your situation. We do not want the cost to be the reason someone cannot access what they need.

Programme duration varies. Short professional intensives, like our Advanced Excel & Power BI or Grant Proposal Writing programmes, typically run two to four weeks with sessions a few days per week. More comprehensive analytical programmes, such as Python for Data Analytics
or R Programming, typically run six to eight weeks. Full M&E and Project Management programmes can run up to three months. Exact schedules, including session frequency and total learning hours, are published on each course page on our LMS at dataplusacademy.com.

Corporate & Institution Training

Does DATA+ design bespoke training programmes for organisations?

Yes, and this is one of our most active and growing service lines. We design and deliver customised training programmes for corporate teams, government departments, international
NGOs, research institutions, and development agencies. The process starts with a scoping conversation: we want to understand your team's current skill level, the tools and data systems your organisation uses, your sector's reporting and analysis requirements, and the outcomes you need to be able to demonstrate to leadership. From that, we build a programme. We do notre name a standard course and deliver it as 'customised training'. If you come to us with a specific organisational challenge, we design something specific. Contact us to arrange a no- commitment scoping session.

Yes. For organisations based in Kigali, we deliver on-site at your premises if that is practical.
For organisations with staff distributed across Rwanda or in other African countries, we can deliver fully remotely or design a blended approach. We have delivered in-organisation training for institutions in multiple locations, let us know your constraints and we will propose a format
that works.

Research Consultancy

What research services does DATA+ provide?

We provide end-to-end research consultancy services, which means we can engage at any stage of a research project or manage the full cycle. Services include: research design and study protocol development; data collection instrument design (surveys, interview guides, observation tools); enumerator recruitment, training, and management; field data collection using Kobotoolbox, SurveyCTO, and CSpro; data cleaning, quality assurance, and management; quantitative analysis using Stata, R, and Python; qualitative analysis; visualisation and infographics; and final report writing to donor or institutional standards. We work in Kinyarwanda, English, and French. We do not subcontract our field operations, our own
trained enumerators and analysts run every engagement.

Send us a message through the Contact Us page or email info@dataplusrwanda.com directly.
Include: a brief description of the study (what you want to measure or understand), the
geographic scope (national, regional, specific districts), an approximate sample size if known,
and your timeline including any hard deadlines. We will respond within 2 business days with
questions or a preliminary scope. For larger or more complex studies, we will request a scoping
call before preparing a formal proposal.

Yes. Our clients include the Rwanda National Institute of Statistics, VVOB, DAI Global, IPAR-Rwanda, and a range of national and international development organisations. We have conducted data collection operations across multiple Rwandan provinces, designed and implemented monitoring systems for multi-year programmes, and produced research reports
used in national policy processes. We can provide references upon request during the proposal
process.
